UKSAF Summer Meeting 2016
Surfaces and interfaces define materials, by providing the connection between the material and its surroundings. The nature and behaviour of this connection is of increasing significance in the nanotechnology revolution, influencing research in virtually every area of industry, from semi-conductors to medical devices and pharmaceuticals. To address this growing importance, the theme of UKSAF 2016 is: “Novel Materials with Industrial Applications”.
The meeting will provide a platform for interaction and sharing knowledge between scientists from industry, academia and suppliers of equipment for surface analysis.
The conference will run from 9:00am to 4:30pm on Friday 8th July, in the William Jefferson Auditorim at University College Dublin.
Speakers
- Dr Brian Rodriguez, University College Dublin
The many interfaces of LiNbO3 - Prof Greg Hughes, Dublin City University
The growth and characterisation of self-forming copper diffusion barrier layers for future interconnect applications - Dr Melissa Passarelli, NPL
Title TBC - Dr Cormac McGuinness, Trinity College Dublin
Adventures on vicinal surfaces – capped magnetic nanowires at step - Dr Tony Cafolla, Dublin City University
Growth and characterisation of graphene nanoribbons - Prof Davide Mariotti, University of Ulster
Nanomaterials for III-generation photovoltaics: measurements in aid of band alignment - Prof Michael Morris, University College Cork / CRANN
The surface and interface chemistry for development of self-assembled block copolymer films on substrates.
Social Evening
There will be an informal get together before the meeting on Thursday 7th July at J W Sweetman craft brewery, giving you the chance to try a selection of Irish craft beers.
