IRDG Christmas Meeting
The Infrared and Raman Discussion Group (IRDG) was established in 1950 and is one of the UK’s oldest spectroscopy organisations. The group is made up of researchers from industry, government and academia who are interested in the theory, practice and teaching of infrared and Raman spectroscopy.
All are welcome to attend the meeting and join the group – see information about registration below.

Registration
The date of this event has now passed. For upcoming meetings, please see our Events listing, and follow Blue Scientific on Linked In.
All are welcome to attend IRDG meetings by paying a non-member’s meeting fee, which also enrolls you as a member of the group. Membership is open to everyone interested in IR and Raman spectroscopy. The membership fee is kept very low so that everyone who wishes to join is able to do so.
O-PTIR at IRDG
Don’t miss Curt Marcott’s talk at 10:30am: “Simultaneous Raman and Optical Photothermal IR Spectroscopy at Sub-micron Spatial Resolution”.
O-PTIR is a ground-breaking technique that breaks the infrared diffraction limit and overcomes two great issues in IR spectroscopy:
- Achieve sub-micron spatial resolution.
- Measure thick samples in reflection mode.
- None of the contact limitations or dispersive artifacts of ATR.

- Sub-micron spatial resolution.
- Non-contact technique.
- Transmission FTIR quality spectra in reflection mode.
- Combine with Raman spectroscopy.
