New Bruker Dimension IconIR Nanoscale IR Spectroscopy Platform

The new Bruker Dimension IconIR is a large-sample nanoscale infrared spectroscopy and chemical imaging system. It sets new standards in chemical and material property mapping with sub-10nm chemical imaging resolution.

The platform combines technology from two established Bruker systems:

Bruker Dimension IconIR

Complete Correlative Microscopy

The new large-sample IconIR is the most complete correlative microscopy system for quantitative nanochemical, nanomechanical and nanoelectrical characterisation.

It incorporates Bruker’s exclusive PeakForce Tapping mode for extremely high resolution imaging, extending AFM into areas not previously possible. It also enables nanoscale properties to be mapped simultaneously alongside imaging.

More about PeakForce Tapping…

“For the first time, IconIR enables me to combine nanoIR spectroscopy and sub-10nm chemical imaging resolution with advanced quantitative property mapping techniques. With these new capabilities, I will be able to easily discriminate the polymer composition in a blend with a resolution of a few nanometres. In addition, the Tapping AFM-IR mode is so sensitive and robust that we can now study complex systems with strong mechanical heterogeneities.”

Applications

The Dimension IconIR is extremely flexible and can be used in a wide range of fields:

  • Polymers
  • Geoscience
  • Semiconductors
  • Life science

“This new platform extends nanoIR technology into new application segments not currently addressed by the AFM-IR technique, enabling users to undertake more detailed studies to better understand the structure and composition of materials. Building upon our highly respected AFM-IR technology, the Dimension IconIR system significantly extends nanoscale characterisation with correlative capabilities for the most advanced academic and industrial research and improves chemical imaging resolution well beyond 10nm.”

Unrivalled Capabilities

Combining nanoscale IR spectroscopy and SPM (Scanning Probe Microscopy), the Dimension IconIR incorporates decades of research and technological innovation. It delivers nanoscale infrared spectroscopy and imaging with unrivalled nanoscale property mapping capabilities.

In a single system, IconIR gives you the highest performance for nanoscale infrared spectroscopy, chemical imaging resolution and monolayer sensitivity.

The Dimension Icon is the world’s most used large-sample AFM system. It’s extremely flexible, for samples up to 150 mm, with versions for even larger samples.

Bruker’s patented suite of Photothermal based AFM-IR spectroscopy modes is the most comprehensive available, with spectra and high resolution chemical imaging correlating with FTIR techniques. Hundreds of publications have been published, demonstrating its success as the world’s leading nanoIR technology.

Modes and Accessories

IconIR is compatible with the full range of SPM modes and accessories for Bruker’s Dimension platform. This makes it the most advanced correlative nanoscale characterisation system available for materials research.
