Phenom: Fast, High Resolution Desktop SEM
The Phenom desktop SEM range was created to make the detailed imaging capabilities of electron microscopy accessible to everyone:
- Easy to use – making SEM more accessible.
- High quality imaging and analysis.

Since its introduction in the 1930s, SEM has become a critical tool in many fields, including materials science, forensics, industrial manufacturing and life science. It provides microscopic information about the surface or near-surface region.
As well as being easier to use, Phenom instruments have a much smaller footprint than floor-standing SEM systems. They’re robust and don’t require a specialised room or facility. Some have even taken desktop SEMs on the road, for on-site analysis from mobile labs.
Integrated EDS
The Phenom range also features versatile topographic and elemental analysis, with integrated EDS (Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) detectors.
